Little Elmo

Trick-or-treater in training. I went to a place where kids could trick or treat before Halloween - Mommy thought I needed to practice. They offered me candy, but I took the apple (that might have really been just for decoration) instead. I'm eating the apple in this photo.
Don't I make the cutest Elmo you've ever seen?

I'll probably be getting lots of candy so I'll need my wagon.

Vivi and Elmo playing music

Vivi playing music

Vivi teaching Elmo to play music. Giraffe and Bunny are taking naps right on the keys.

Playing with circuits

I got this kit called "LittleBits" to try out for one of my courses. I let Vivi play with a few of the pieces just to see if she could get them snapped together. Here's the evidence of our young electrical engineer....

Baby flamingos (and bouncy houses) at the zoo

There are baby flamingos at the zoo. This little flamingo just hatched - it is less than a week old.
The grey flamingos are older babies - between 2 and 6 weeks old.
More importantly, there was a a BOUNCY HOUSE at the zoo. I can't believe no one has told me about these things! I love Bouncy Houses! They are my new favorite toy.

Home Depot Kid's Workshop

Every month, Home Depot has a kid's workshop. It's for kids 5-10, but we all know I'm advanced. And our Home Depot is really nice to little people like me. I got a pin. This month we made a firetruck.
We got to build a firetruck (mommy put it together for me- I wasn't very good with the hammer - maybe next month)
But then I got to paint it - but since no one had painted the parking lot yet, I started there.

I got a little paint on my truck.

movies

Two movies. The first one is of Vivi doing "somersaults." She actually did a few pretty good ones before I turned on the camera.

The second video is of Vivi in her crib after having gone in a bouncy house at the zoo. I think she thinks her crib is her own bouncy house. No idea why the video is so green. When she goes over to the stuffed giraffe in the middle of the video - she is changing the sound it makes.

Fun times at the pumpkin patch - again

Back at the pumpkin patch - I LOVE this place. All the toddlers know that it's the best place to play in town.
Sitting nicely waiting for Mommy to take my picture.
Time's up - I'm sliding down the bale of straw now- wheeeee!
The big kids were making "straw angles" - I'm copying them.
Climb to the top of the bale, slide down, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Art and Science - swirling colors

Several people have asked how we made this image that we posted on Facebook. So here are the instructions.
Put a little bit of milk in a bowl (or plate or tray or whatever). We use whole milk but 2% should also work.

Add some drops of food color. Don't mix.
Add a drop of dish soap and - watch the colors swirl and move. Here you can see where we dropped the soap (orange oval right in the center of picture).
For an explanation of what is going on, see
