Once upon a nap

4:00 pm: Naptime?
4:07 pm: I don't think so.
4:12 pm: Maybe I can get this bar loose
4:18 pm: I am NOT sleepy
4:22 pm: Oh look, toes.

4:37 pm: How about this bar? Is it loose?
4:42 pm: This little piggy went to the market...

5:00 pm: Oh come on, Mom, just give up and play with me

If Big Bird laid eggs...

The toddler class cooked and ate a giant egg today. Look at that thing! It's an ostrich egg and that one egg is equivalent to 3 dozen chicken eggs. First, all the toddlers got to stand on it. The egg could support the weight of a 2 year old. Then the teachers opened it up and all the kids got to stir it. Then they cooked it up and ate it for breakfast. They started the whole process just as we arrived at the center today, so we got to watch the whole thing before going into the infant class.

First day of daycare

Today was my first day of school - ever
I'm showing off my first day of school outfit.
And THIS is my very own lunchbox. It's a penguin!

Vivi did great at daycare today - it's right on campus so I can walk over and nurse her or play with her. She was happy and smiling and playing with toys every time I went over there. She seemed to love playing with (or at least near) the other babies and watching the big kids (2 year olds) play outside. And there are mobiles everywhere - what could be better? They got her to take two naps in her crib - they must have some sort of magic daycare dust.

Getting Vivi and all her "stuff" there today was a bit of a challenge - the "school supplies" for daycare are bulky.
Here is all the stuff we had to bring for Vivi's first day of school. If I remember to do this every year, it would be interesting to look at how that changes over time. We had to bring two changes of clothes, two blankets, diapers, emergency food (the jars of food and box of formula) and her lunch for the day (the container of sweet potatoes on the penguin). She doesn't actually need a lunch box, but it's the first day of school - how could I not get her a lunch box? She's lucky I didn't buy her a bunch of pencils and spiral bound notebooks too.

Vivi's side of the story

So, you say someone kept you up again all last night?

You're not suggesting it was me, are you?

Look at this face? You really think I could do such a thing?

A new record for continuous sleep

Last night was a new record for Vivi. At 7:45 she fell asleep and didn't wake up until 6.5 hours later! After 10 minutes of nursing she fell back asleep - for another 4 hours. Here's hoping it's a trend.

They want me to sleep during the day? Why would I do that?

This is how I nap in my crib

And this is how I nap in my swing - I'm going to catch those sheep one of these days.

A few of my favorite things

At almost 6 months, these are Vivi's favorite toys. Yes, that is a sippy cup next to the monkey. She can't get anything out of it, but it is apparently very entertaining.

Viva la Fiesta!

It's Fiesta Days  - a week long celebration. Today was the children's parade. Lots of little ones dancing, walking or riding in decorated wagons.

Our little foodie

Just give me the spoon. I can do this.

Is this the right way?

I have no idea how my face got so messy.

You see that grip?
No one is getting this spoon away from me.
